Carrie Day

Carrie has been involved in the performing arts since childhood. She received a BFA in modern dance performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and then moved to New York to pursue a professional dance career. She was quickly seduced by the field of lighting design and worked successfully and happily in the theatre for Off-Broadway and Fashion as a technician and designer. Working in such physically demanding fields, Carrie observed how different people handle different levels of stress, and how they hold that stress in their bodies. She continues to take dance and yoga classes, always maintaining a deep interest in body awareness and movement therapy.

In 2004, she discovered Clinical Somatic Education and became fascinated with the blend of body awareness, education, and depth of science required for study. She is currently studying at Somatics Systems Institute in Northampton, MA. Carrie hopes to help people realize their own potential as intelligent, aware human beings, and to encourage excitement about taking responsibility for their own health and lives.
